Max Rosenbaum, 85, whose life was changed irrevocably after his son’s 1991 death in race riots in Brooklyn, N.Y.’s Crown Heights neighborhood, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2007, of a heart attack in Melbourne, Australia.

Nissen Pinson, 89, Russian, French, Chabad rabbi, Dec. 2

Rabbi Nissen Pinson, 89, who spent nearly 50 years as Chabad’s rabbi in Tunis, Tunisia, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2007, in Nice France.
Pinson was born in Kharkov, Russia, and studied at Chabad underground yeshivas until he emigrated to France. In 1960, he was sent by Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem M. Schneerson to Tunisia.
