Israelis who have lost family members in the Army will now all receive the same stipend, rather than having an income review process, Ynetnews reports.

The Knesset (Israeli Parliament) approved a bill canceling the annual income review process that some had called demeaning and an injustice. Knesset Member Limor Livnat said:“The Knesset has canceled today a historical injustice… from now on, bereaved families will no longer be put at the mercy of bureaucratic institutions during their most difficult hour – forced to fill out forms, prove what their income is, and all for a twisted and shameful assessment review… as if the blood of some of the fallen were not as red.”

Each family will now receive the highest stipend stipulated by law.
